Dubplates

Empty Space is excited to share its privilege of cutting dubplates, often called “lathe-cuts”, with like-minded people around the world.

The process is straightforward: If you need a custom vinyl cut for your project, simply reach out via our contact form with an inquiry. Let us know how many tracks you want to cut, the total runtime per side, how many copies you need, and where you’d like the dubplates shipped. We accept orders for quantities ranging from one to ten dubplates and typically reply within three business days.

Once confirmed, you can send us your clearly labeled tracks (A1, A2, B1, B2, etc.) via any file transfer service—or in analog format by mail. We’ll cut your music and send you a PayPal invoice, including shipping costs. As soon as the payment is received, we’ll securely package your dubplates and ship them via Swiss Post.

Each dubplate comes with white labels and a polylined inner sleeve. If needed, cardboard outer sleeves are available upon request.

For our dubplate service, we use professional-grade cutting tools, including a feedback cutterhead with a diamond stylus, a high-torque direct-drive motor, and a low-distortion stereo cutting amplifier. Unlike short-lived acetates or polycarbonate sheets, our dubplates are made from durable, 180g high-quality polyvinyl chlorid, offering the same longevity and performance as pressed records.

To ensure the best playback quality, we carefully optimize all audio by adjusting the frequency spectrum, dynamic range, and stereo width for vinyl. To maintain clean highs, solid bass, and good loudness, cuts are limited to 15 minutes per side.

We accept all common digital formats. For analog sources, we offer high-quality cassette and reel-to-reel transfers (LPR35 at 3.75 IPS or 7.5 IPS). Additionally, we can even transfer music directly from vinyl using professional studio equipment, ensuring faithful reproduction with high sound quality.

If your tracks have already been mastered, simply send us the files—most digital masters work fine. If they haven’t been mastered yet, we’d love to add some of our analog mojo before cutting your dubplates!

We collaborate with artists, musicians, DJs, museums, theaters, and collectors who are passionate about their projects. We accept orders from all over the world and offer worldwide shipping. However, we do not support any form of music that promotes racism, sexism or discrimination in general.

We maintain a transparent pricing policy: 10.- Swiss Francs per vinyl and 2.- Swiss Francs per minute of music. This pricing covers materials and equipment maintenance. If you're on a tight budget, we're open to barter or trade—after all, for us, it's about the music, not the money.

All records are mastered and cut by Formen, who contributes on a voluntary basis. 100% of the earnings stay within our association, helping fund our artistic platform and its services and projects.
