Hans Hashimoto - Geigerzähler

2021 | ES-003 | Edition of 50

The precise motivations underlying the journey into nuclear wastelands are unknown. After Hans Hashimoto finished his apprenticeship he left home with a sleeping bag, a geigerzähler and two packets of methadone. Once in the exclusion zone, the geigerzähler became his compass - and the reactor his north star. The readings on the geigerzähler became stronger as the radiation sickness and Hans Hashimoto survived on one pack of methadone to enter and one to leave the zone. In his tumble towards the expericence of undirected release of unfathomable energy he found answers to questions unclear.

For the cover design and layout of Hans Hashimoto's Geigerzähler, we collaborated with Ganzgar from Basel. The result showcases the remarkable possibilities of multilayered processing in macro photography.
