Schall/Formen explores the interaction between acoustic sounds and their electronic modulation in real time. The duo aims to reflect on the boundaries between these two realms: Acoustic instruments are microphoned, combined with the rhythms of an analog drum machine, and modulated in real time using a mixing console with interacting delay lines, tangled feedback loops, and subtle equalizer adjustments. No computers, DAWs, or software - just pure sound and electricity.

Based on this method, Schall/Formen's aesthetics are characterized by a raw yet intricate sound that blends influences from jazz, dub, ambient and clicks & cuts.

The album In Echtzeit features two rare concert recordings from early 2023: Side A was captured at the finissage of the art exhibition Bricolage at the Kunstmuseum Solothurn, while side B is a recording from the Anstadt Bern, where Schall/Formen performed at the event Liegen im Vakuum.

The covers for this limited cassette series are all handmade and designed as unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. First, the lettering and layout are screen-printed on high-quality Munken paper. The main motif features individually created lissajous figures, produced using a mechanical harmonograph specifically designed by Formen for this purpose. As a result, each tape has an unique version of the artwork. All covers are hand-numbered.
